Community Involvement

At CB&T we believe we are only as strong as the communities in which we serve. In everything we do, we strive to be a responsible corporate citizen. So, you can feel good about investing in a local bank that is as committed to community as you are. Building Community through Giving.

In June of 2023, a leading financial technology service provider used by multiple vendors servicing financial institutions, including CB&T, experienced exposure to the global cyberattack. The provider, MOVEit, a file transfer software deployed by many government agencies, enterprise corporations, and professional service organizations world-wide, also impacted the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. A large number of these organizations globally have been impacted by this “zero-day” cyberattack.

We are investigating the issue, and when more details become available, we will be communicating with customers to ensure they understand the full nature of the incident. At this time, impacted CB&T data appears to include customer names, addresses and account numbers. We continue to vigilantly monitor for any signs of fraudulent activity and encourage customers to further protect against identity theft and fraud by following best practices, including but not limited to:

  1. Check your monthly bank statements.
  2. Enroll in your Online and Mobile Banking to review account activity.
  3. Update your passwords, and make sure they are strong and unique.
  4. Use caution before opening attachments or clicking links when using email, text messaging, or social media.
  5. Monitor your credit reports. The website https://annualcreditreport.com will provide a free credit report for all three major providers on an annual basis.
  6. Secure your home network and use current virus and firewall protection for your personal computer.
  7. Avoid using public or shared networks to access your personal information or accounts.
  8. When sending/replying to emails, be sure that email addresses are correct, and verify that it is the same address that you have on file for the person.

As a result of the situation regarding the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, the State of Louisiana has issued recommendations for Louisianans to protect their identities. These resources can be found at https://nextsteps.la.gov.

The battle against cyber security attacks is one your bank takes very seriously. We are constantly learning and adapting to best protect your information, and it is important that we continue to work together to keep your information and financial accounts secure. CB&T is committed to serving our customers and our community with safe, secure financial solutions. Your business is personal to us.
